The 29 October is Robin Hood Day, join us in celebrating Nottingham’s most famous outlaw!

Nottinghamshire is the home of Robin Hood and you’ll find plenty of places to visit if you’re looking to live the legend and walk in the footsteps of England’s most captivating folklore hero.

Walk in the footsteps of Robin Hood

  • At Nottingham Castle you can travel through the Castle tunnel into Robin Hood Adventures where you’ll sit back in a forest clearing to experience the ballads of Robin Hood on in the round storytelling screens. In the dedicated gaming spaces, you can fire your longbow in a digital archery competition or spar with Little John in the depths of Sherwood Forest.

  • You can also stop for a drink Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, England’s oldest inn, dating back to 1189. This legendary pub is nestled beneath the cliff on which Nottingham's historic castle stands, and was once a well-known pit stop for crusader knights and outlaws such as our very own Robin Hood. This is the perfect spot for a quick drink or a classic pub meal.

  • No Robin Hood adventure would be complete without a journey into the Nottinghamshire countryside to see his hideout in the majestic Sherwood Forest, where the world-famous, 1000 year old Major Oak stands. To explore the Forest, we reccomend visiting the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre or Sherwood Pines, where you can discover trails, activties and events all year round.

  • Walk to the nearby village of Edwinstowe to see St Mary’s Church where Robin Hood is said to have wed his beloved Maid Marian. On the High Street, you’ll be greeted by a wonderful statue of Robin and Marian to commemorate this legend.
