Kirsty Merryn's unique music is heavily anchored in the folk tradition, with jazz and classical influences. She weaves a spell over the audience as she tells stories through piano-based songs with sharply observed lyrics, delivered in crystal-clear, soaring vocals.

"Merryn's voice is also a balm for the soul right now, wide-open and heady"- The Guardian

Kirsty Merryn is one of the most unique singer-songwriters on the UK folk scene, performing original and traditional songs on piano and voice. Kirsty's music is heavily anchored in the folk tradition, with jazz and classical influences. She weaves a spell over the audience as she tells stories through piano-based songs with sharply observed lyrics, delivered in crystal-clear, soaring vocals.

After three years away from the folk scene, Kirsty is beginning to emerge from musical hibernation, and will be stopping by Peggy's Skylight with new music, as well as songs from her acclaimed albums 'Our Bright Night' and 'She & I'.

Kirsty is a beloved English folk singer who has been frequently championed by Show of Hands' Steve Knightley, who brought her along on their 2017 tour of UK cathedrals and featured her song 'Forfarshire' on their 2019 album 'Battlefield Dance Floor'. She has also released records with The Ciderhouse Rebellion and BBC Folk Award winner Ben Walker.

Support comes from Chris Avery of Filkin's Drift, who brings his solo project to Nottingham for the first time. His Korwrgog EP combines gorgeous jazz motifs with Welsh language folk music. Think Portico Quartet goes folk.
